Michelin's new road tyre, pilot road 2 with two compound technology should prove to be a popular choice for those riders that require a practical solution between the pilot road, a sports touring tyre and the out and out sports tyres, pilot power and pilot power 2CT.

The dual compound tyre technology which assisted Nicky Hayden to become MotoGP champion in 2006 has been incorporated into the pilot road 2 for the year 2007. The main benefit with this technology is that the harder compound is located in the centre of the tyre for improved mileage while the softer compound is in the shoulder for better grip.

The tyre is targeted for the Roadster and Sport Touring Machines and Michelin claim that Independent tests have the road tyre, ahead of the competition for longest mileage and best grip.

For the total sports riders the pilot power and the pilot power 2CT are the tyres of choice. The dual compound technology will again provide that little bit extra for those that are prepared to ask more of their machines or perhaps venture out onto the track. The pilot power range provides very capable tyres and few riders will be able to exploit their limits.

Those that are may be part of the 'nutta' fraternity and should be considering the power race series of tyres. These are race tyres that are road legal but the power race medium soft is not recommended for road use. The medium soft is very much a circuit tyre and best suited to the track. If you are into racing or track day events then these are the kiddies.
